REBEL FOR REBIRTH

Guido,

i've been involved in mail art for one year now; and over that time have accumulated a large number of correspondents through the process of trying to find my self-expression. i've tried my best to properly document each piece of art i received, and have several folders of photos and scans of these. as many of you know, my son died a year and two months ago, and his passing has been a major theme throughout my art, as i've been trying to come to grips with his death. the last piece i made concerning his death was to deconstruct a piece of artwork which Guido Vermeulen sent me, a piece which guido dedicated what would have been Gabriel's fifth birthday in creating. i deconstructed it on the anniversary of Gabriel's death by cutting it into small squares, which i am still in the process of sending out in the mail.

this work was in response to the one which immediately proceeded (FLUXUS IS DEAD); which also was concerning Gabriel's death.

i have now created the next in this series; "Rebirth"

for this work, i have used the photos and scans of the artwork which i have received over the past year; so this reconstructed work is a collaboration between over 300 different artists, all around the world.

i think this is significant, because i credit you guys with helping me get through the worst of times in dealing with the grief of his loss. and although i realize i've crossed well beyond the borders of socially acceptable art many times over, i still continue to gain correspendence with new people, people that are accepting of how i deal with my pain; people willing to exchange creativity for creativity without bias or judgement.

so thank you all, you made this work with me; it is our work, not mine.

CENSORSHIP OF THE NAKED BODIES IN CHALLENGING CONTEXTS

Hello friends,

Recently there have been two works submitted for the CENSORED art project which I'm hosting on google which have been censored by their system, one by Fausto Grossi, and one by myself. Fausto brought up the idea that perhaps we should email these works to the rest of you and ask you opinions. Why do you think these were censored? what are your thoughts on these artworks?

Ridiculous examples of censorship. so I’ll put them of rebel rebel if you don’t mind
1> Fausto challenges the boundaries between male and femail bodies, questioning perhaps his own sexuality or how people vision sexuality (this for me is NOT new, I have a few friends in Brussels who have made similar works of art, one from Chile and one from Albania, both have also conflicts with censors because society cannot handle bi sexuality or bi polarity in all its forms ...
2> Your own work pinpoints on the differences between naked bodies and naked speech (my reading). The naked body is harmless in publicity when it seduces people to buy products thru seduction, but not when it speaks about own life and sexuality, then it becomes blacklisted and banned from voice AND body.
